All public schools now have two intakes per year for new reception children:  Term 1 and Term 3.  Children commencing school in Term 1 complete four terms of reception, while children commencing in Term 3 complete six terms of reception.

 

STARTING SCHOOL AGE

From 2024, children who turn five years old:

  • before 1st May – can start Reception at the beginning of the year
  • from 1st May to 31st October – can start school through the mid-year intake at the start of Term 3
  • after 31st October – start Reception at the beginning of the following year.
