Making Healthy Lives

Physical Education

  • Specialist PE Teacher – Our specialist PE Teacher is highly regarded and recognised as one of the best specialist teachers in the Adelaide Hills.

PE lessons are centred on skill development, game sense and sportsmanship. All students develop their fundamental movement skills in a safe, challenging and supportive environment.

Students focus on developing a positive attitude towards physical activity, participation, teamwork and challenging themselves.

Our annual sports day is highly anticipated by students and families alike. Our four House teams compete for ‘The Ivan Tiwu-Copley Cup’, a points trophy, and the ‘STAR’ trophy (sportsmanship, teamwork, attitude, resilience) is awarded to the most deserving team.

Each year BPS takes part in inter-school Athletics, Cross-country, and various SAPSASA events such as Soccer and Netball.

Kitchen Garden Program

Bridgewater Primary has an established Kitchen Garden and we have been associated with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program since 2010.

  • Kitchen Garden – All children in the school have a fortnightly gardening session with our Garden Specialist, where they learn how to prepare the soil, propagate seedlings and take care of crops through to harvest.
  • Cooking Program – Children in the Middle Years and Upper Primary years, work in small groups with our Kitchen Specialist each week in our large kitchen space. Children learn about seasonality of produce and how to prepare healthy, tasty meals using the harvest from our garden. They cook, set the table and sit together to share food, conversation and fun. Then they clean up.
